Your Project, Our Promise, Any size, Any Challenge...

Test and balance is a critical component to HVAC system installation, maintenance and operations.

HVAC system installation is not complete until the system has been tested, balanced and possibly commissioned. Our services ensure the engineer’s design and intent was achieved and that the comfort level of the occupants will be achieved.

The best way to ensure a system is operating properly is by performing a test and balance by a Certified Test and Balance (TAB) agency.

Here are the benefits of a high quality Certified TAB services:

Minimize Energy Consumption

Reduce Maintenance Costs

Improve Occupant Comfort

Reduce Operating Costs

Optimize Equipment Performance

Improve Indoor Air Quality

s

Prevent Equipment Failure

"

Lower Humidity Levels

Improve Worker Productivity

The quality of our team is what positions us as an industry leader in test and balance services. Here is what our Engineers and Certified TAB Technicians can do for you:

N

Develop a plan for the scope of TAB work

N

Recommend Corrective Action As Needed

N

Review sequence operations

N

Train onsite maintenance staff if requested

N

Maintain an overall safety plan

N

Provide alternate control strategies

N

Calibrate and adjust control system and equipment through software

N

Review, check and approve final TAB reports for occupancy permits

Air And Hydronic Balancing

All air and water flow volumes associated with the HVAC Systems are measured and adjusted with calibrated instruments to meet the design determined by the mechanical engineer’s design requirements.

Duct Pressure Testing

Duct leakage is a major contributor to overall poor system performance and pressure inconsistencies to provide for the needed airflows per the design requirements. With our duct pressure testing method we are able to quickly identify duct system leaks and assist the mechanical contractor to efficiently remedy them.

Control System Verification

Correct operation of the Building Automation Control System and associated devices are verified, tested, calibrated and functionally tested during the testing and balancing process.

Fumehood Testing

Exhaust air volume and velocity measurements are taken to insure safety with proper fume hood exhaust for operator safety and assists in certification of the fume hood in order to meet design specifications for the lab space.

Chiller And Cooling Tower Performance Testing

Chiller and Cooling Tower System testing and adjustments are performed to ensure optimum system performance and safety. Malfunctioning Chiller and Cooling Tower System performance can adversely affect the performance and energy consumption of the overall HVAC System.

Building Systems Commissioning

The Project Commissioning Process begins with a design review of the mechanical, electrical, piping/plumbing and control documents that affect the HVAC and Controls Systems. The Commissioning Plan provides for verification and documentation of the Installation, Operation and Integrated Performance Testing of the complete HVAC system to insure the Mechanical, Electrical, Piping and Controls System installation, operation and performance. The commissioning process includes construction site observations, attending commissioning meetings, managing deficiency issues, owner’s facility operator training and 10-month Post Construction reviews. The entire commissioned system is verified and documented and the Commissioning Report provided to the owner, design and construction team.

Indoor Environmental Testing

We perform a variety of indoor environmental testing including air flow tests to determine air changes per hour for specific occupancy functions. Improper ventilation and distribution is a cause of a poor indoor environment which will affect employee comfort and productivity.

LEED Indoor Air Quality Testing

Indoor Air Quality  (IAQ) testing is in accordance with LEED requirements for IEQ Credit 3.2. Testing is conducted for baseline IAQ protocols consistent with the EPA Compendium of Methods for the determination of air pollutants in indoor air and additionally detailed in LEED Reference Guide for Green Building Design and Construction. All air sampling results are analyzed and certified by an offsite lab facility.

Hospital Air Exchange/Pressure Compliance

Regularly scheduled testing per hospital code compliance required to meet the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) accreditation certified report to show compliance compared to ASHAE and AIA appropriate standards are being maintained.

Pre-Construction Document Review

Our Pre-Construction Document Review provides for review to identify coordination issues and potential problems that will affect the balancing and system performance. This assists in the testing and balance phase of the project to provide a much more efficient process.

Sound And Vibration Testing

Design parameters for the occupied building spaces normally have specified noise and vibration level requirements. We provide testing which identifies the amount of noise and vibration that is permitted to enter the spaces from the HVAC equipment or diffuser/grille air velocities. Noise is measured in (SPL) Sound Pressure Levels with a calibrated SPL meter. This meter is used to confirm that the spaces are in agreement the design requirements. Equipment and System Vibration is measured similarly and recorded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is testing and balance necessary?

Testing and balance (TAB) services on heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems and sub-systems ensures that the system is reaching  full operational capacity. Without having a testing and balance report the mechanical operations may be stressed or have reduced output that can cause discomfort for tenants within the building, cost more in energy costs and have ineffective air flow which can be dangerous to an occupants health.

Is your company certified?

Yes. Education and verification of skills sets is core component to who we are at SAI. We are certified through both of our industry’s top regulators, The Associated Air Balance Counsel (AABC) and The National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB).

Does System's Analysis offer a warranty?

Yes, through our AABC and NEBB certifications, we offer a one year warranty.

Are your technicians certified?

Yes, our technicians gain testing and balance (TAB) experience and skills training through mentoring under a qualified TAB Certified supervisor. Once the technicians have met the minimum time of experience, they must pass a rigorous written examination to test their skills and knowledge.

Do you have a safety program?

Yes. We have a written safety program and require periodic drug testing for all of our technicians.

How often are your instruments calibrated?

TAB instruments are highly specialized and require proper care and use. Air and water meters are returned to the manufacturer for recalibration and repair as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure the accuracy and tolerance required for TAB.

How many years have you been in business?

SAI was one of the first companies to provide testing and balance services under the supervision of engineers. We are proud to say that we were founded in 1982 and have completed over 25,000+ projects in more than 20 countries. Our success is a result of our dependability, highly qualified team, and our ability to meet client’s needs on any size project.

Does Systems Analysis do residential work?

Yes, we will do residential work for specific projects. If you have a residential construction project you are needing our services for please call our main office for more information.
